The Enigma Tattooists in Mallorca.

Frank Ayrton (Enigma 1) started tattooing in 1976 after being offered an apprentiship with a Studio in Enfield North London. He continued to learn the tattoo trade for 5 years under the guidance of Tony Glass.

He bought “High Tension Tattoo”, his first studio at the age of 23.
The studio was owned by Terry Oldham and was being sold as he was relocating to America.
However, things didn’t go according to plan and returned 2 years later to work alongside him until 1985.
Terry was an excellent freehand artist, and to this day frank still owes many aspects of his style to him.
Having a growing family frank felt that London wasn’t a good place to bring up children so he moved up to Cambridgeshire and opened “English Rose” in Peterborough, going into partnership with Carl Burton from March Cambs. They had many good years working together, but alas all things must come to an end, and as his circumstances had changed a lot he decided it was time to follow his dream to live and work in Spain.
He opened “Body and Soul” in Palma in 1996, and after a few teething problems with the language this went on to become a great success.

In 2005 he returned to the U.K due to family problems, and worked with Andy Lobban at “Eternal Image” Rushden Northants, However he soon found himself missing Spain and with all family matters resolved he returned, and since 2006 he has been working for “Enigma Tattoo Studios” in Magaluf.

Tattooing has been his life for 30 years, He particularly enjoys freehand work, portraits and realistic styles but he's constantly aiming to improve and he'd like to think he can rise to any challenge.

He has won awards at conventions over the years, however, competitions are not as important to him as my day to day work, and the satisfaction he feels on a job well done.

Oscar Barrio González (Enigma 1), was born in Zaragoza on the 20th of december 1973.
This young veteran, as he has spent half his life in the tattoo world, started tattooing in 1991, taught and supervised by Gabriel Armentero Torres, in the city of Zaragoza (Spain)

From 1991 until 1993 his teachings were based upon the fundamental basics of tattooing, those years would help him have a solid tecnique

In 1993 he decided to move to Palma de Majorca, with his mentor and friend Gabriel Armentero, he opend one of the first tattoo studios in the city of Palma in one of the main centres of that time, which was plaza gomila.

The union of these two artists lasted until 1999, year in which Oscar keeps the entire business and undertakes his journey alone.

The studio in plaza gomila named \"Tattoo Racing\", stayed open until 2006, but the idea of working along side artist of the stature such as Ezequiel Nuñez or Frank Ayrton, made him decide to join the tattoo team of Enigma, and with so leaving his own studio.

Oscar, while doing tattoos of any style, feels more comfortable with Oriental and loves doing Black and Grey tattoos.

Diego Diaz, Born in Rosario, Argentina on the 15th of Frebruary 1978.
From a young age he liked drawiry and painting, since then he has passed through many different workshops, schools and colleges related to art.

He starded to become \"enthusiastic\" for the art of tattoing at the age fo 20, when a friend asked him to tattoo him with a homemade machine, from that moment on, he knew it was what he wanted to do for the rest of his life.
He is always learning new tecniques and tenencies of tattooing. In 2004 he opened his own shop, which he left 2 years later to come to Mallorca.
Humility, good manners and respect for the human anato,y are the key fundamentals for this crafsman of the needle, always eager to create originale one of a kind pieces.
His favourite styles are: Photographic Realism, Oriental, American Old School, and Figurative Abstract.

Rafael Dobao Cañero.Born in Córdoba(Spain) 11 May 1974.
As a young man he discovered him love for art and drawing,particularly for artistic drawing.

This interest led him to the tattoo world, starting his business at home in 1996 expresing his art on the skin.
About three years later he opened his own tattoo studio called Rapa in Jaca (Huesca) where he worked for five years.
After which he decided to see the world and moved to Costa rica.
Later he returned to Spain, to Gibraltar, Barcelona and Ibiza.
Rafa will do any style of tattooing, the style he enjoys the most is freehand work.
He became part of the Enigma team in 2009.

Samuel Jovino (Enigma Red)
In 1993 Motty Gal has arrived to Samuel Jovino’s Studio, Dragon Tattoo, to get his first tattoo.

Jovino Tattoo Studio was initially established by Shmulik Jovino, one of the most talented painters and sculptures in Israel. Shmulik Jovino was born and raised in northern Israel until he decided to move to Eilat. While he was In Eilat he started tattooing and then went abroad to study the art of tattooing. After working a few years in a trailer on a beach in Eilat, his business relocated to a commercial center in the city and it did not take to long before he became one of the most famous tattoo artist in the country. A few years went by and Shmulik Jovino moved to Tel-Aviv, where he opened a studio at his apartment on King George street and ran his business from there for three years. In 1990-1991 he relocated to 38 Shenkin Street in Tel-Aviv. In 1994 his studio was the first Israeli tattoo studio to win 3 awards in different categories in England.
In 1998 he came to Mallorca where I have worked in various Tattoo Studios, until he found his place in Enigma becomine apart of our team in 2010. Jovino is not only know as a tattoo artis but as a painter and a sculpturist that are internationly valued

Raul Gimeno. Born in Madrid in 1984. From very early age it began with the art of the graffiti and in 2003 I take his art from the city walls to the skin, in 2005 it started working Madrid and other cities. It realizes tattooes with all styles but the favorite one is old style.

Jon Silva was born in Brasil in 1980. Since very young he was facinated by comic books, spending many hours a day drawing his favorites heroes.

Being his own master was not an easy task, but full of freedom, so he started to prove new tecnics and materials.
Artists like Alex Ross, Giger, Boris Vallejo, Frazetta and many others were a very important presence in his style.
In 2004 he decided to move to Mallorca, working as freelancer concept and airbrush artist. In 2008, after observe a few tattoo artists friends working, he decided to buy his first tattoo kit and started tattooing. His master, again, was his experience of a life time drawing and painting and his own skin.
Jon´s stile is based in the photo realistic concept, details and composition harmony, either on color or black and gray. Also his own way to see and create the traditional oriental tattoo style, bringing tradition and realism together into his work.
His goe is not the best tattoo ever, but seek the perfection day by day.
